andre f - waterloo, ON (May 27, '18)
| Model: GBRC0GAXARWW
Symptom: Air Conditioner - Coils Icing Over
Repair Time: 5 Minutes
Tools: Phillips screwdriver.
After death by grid power surge, turning the pot all the way anti-clockwise will shut off the compressor but otherwise it just runs open loop. Relays good but logic shot. Cooling coils become an iceberg. It is easy to measure defrost heater continuity (30 ohms) at this board's connector. GE will give you the schematic on request. I'd prefer a mechanical controller.
3rd board in 10 years for a fridge I bought new. The board comes populated with no diagnostic LEDs.
I am thinking about an external crowbar protection circuit since so long as customers don't blame GE for poor design they'll profit from it rather than fix it. Board used in many models.
