Peter M - Shelburne, ON (Feb 13, '17)
| Model: PRG3010
Symptom: Range - Gas Igniter Glows, But Will Not Light
Repair Time: 30 Minutes
Tools: Philips Screwdriver, wirecutter/stripper
I bought one of these to replace the oven ignitor in a Jenn-Air PRG3010 gas range. The specified Whirlpool WP73001165 part was over $200.
The SGR4001 is an exact physical and electrical substitute, including the proper ceramic block extension out of the metal cage, to keep the wiring distance from the burner.
Easily installed, and works fine. Longevity? to be determined. The original part lasted 8 years of regular use. If this one only lasts 2 years it's still a great value. The helical element may provide more evenly distributed thermal stress than the M-shaped element in the original Whirlpool part and give longer life-- just a theory, time will tell.
