Oatey Pink Waterline Thread Seal Tape, 1/2" x 260"

Oatey Pink Water Line Thread Seal Tape with Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a full density thread seal tape for use on metal or plastic threaded piping up to 1-½” diameter. Pink Water Line Thread Seal Tape can be used with piping in air, water, sewage, hydraulic lines and sprinkler systems. Pink – used on NPT threads 1/2 inch to 2 inch.

The tape is wrapped around the exposed threads of a pipe before it is screwed into place. One of the defining characteristics of PTFE is how good it is at defeating friction. The use of PTFE tape in tapered pipe threads performs a lubricating function, which more easily allows the threads to be screwed together, to the point of deformation, which is what creates the seal.
